McSorleys Bar Reviews

MCSORLEYS BAR - PUERTO CALERO - LANZAROTE.

With reference to Irene Rand & The balding barman below:
It is always nice to hear both side of the story!!!
Thank you very much 'Balding Barman' for replying. I think any viewers can now make their own minds up and we can safely say this issue is now closed. Canary Islands Bars & Clubs personally visited this establishment in January 2008 to obtain photographs for our site. Although we didn't spend a great length of time in the bar and were never served by a 'balding barman', we did call in for a drink and found it a very pleasant place to take a break with good views of the Marina from the outdoor terrace area.

I would like to have the chance to reply to the complaint against me.
I wont make a big deal out of this but some facts need to be stated, the customer entered the bar after closing time, the customers where all very intoxicated and they where abusive to me in front of my wife and two teenage kids who where waiting for me to go home and celebrate new year with them.
The woman verbally abused me with no prompt as did the younger man, i will be honest and say that i retaliated, but i think its fair to say that any man would stick up for himself if wrongly challenged, the older man was held back by the woman and another person because He wanted to fight me,  not the other way round.
As i have been working here for over 3 years i do take this complaint seriously and will apologise to all involved if they feel upset with my handling of a volatile situation, but, i do not agree with there interpretation and hope they can try to remember what really happened that night, remembering of course that they where all rather drunk. Once again though, i will apologise for any misunderstanding and will continue to work at this great bar in the beautiful harbour of Puerto Calero and will welcome all new customers with a smile.

Thank you Jim for your feedback and I agree that 95% of the time we had a good time, but unfortunately when this member of staff was there, we didn't. As far as you criticising my grammer and spelling, this has nothing whatsoever to do with this review, so your comments are irrelevant.  My review is to Mcsorleys and the agressivre behaviour from this member of staff.

Hi there, I would like to say what a shame it is that Mrs Irene Rand who, left a review of McSorleys Bar and Restaurant, Puerto Calero, Lanzoarote on Friday 9th Jan 2009 was so disgruntled.
I was staying in Puerto del Carmen over Christmas 2008 and took the short trip down to the Marina at Puerto Calero to have a look around. I spent most of the day there, calling into McSorley's in the afternoon for a bite to eat and spending most of the evening in there drinking. I found it a very pleasant place with friendly staff and no sign of a 'balding' male with bad attitude.
Please also note that it is very bad English to write something all in CAPITAL letters and is considered as shouting.
I would also check your grammar and spelling as this is atrocious:
BAULDING - balding
GREATED - greeted
SWIPEING - swiping
CUSSIONS - cushions
USEING - using
DOES'NT - doesn't
"AND SAID THAT IT HE WASN'T" - Bad phrase!

I  WOULD LIKE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE ATTITUDE OF A MEMBER OF STAFF AT MCSORLEYS  - HE IS THE SHORT BAULDING MALE WITH A REALLY BAD ATTITUDE AND SHOULD NOT BE ALLLOWED TO SERVE THE GENERAL PUBLIC WITH HIS BEHAVIOUR. ON NEW YEARS EVE JUST BEFORE MIDNIGHT, WE ARRIVED AT MCSORLEYS TO BE GREATED WITH ' YOU CANT COME IN HERE - WE'RE CLOSING AND THEN THIS PERSON CAME OUT AND STARTED SWIPEING  THE CUSSIONS OFF THE CHAIRS WE WERE ABOUT TO SIT ON .  MY FAMILY HAD SPENT QUITE A LOT OF MONEY IN THIS ESTABLISHMENT OVER THE PAST WEEK,  HAVING BREAKFAST EACH DAY AT A COST OF AROUND 60 EUROS A DAY.  MY SON POINTED THIS OUT TO THIS PERSON AND SAID THAT IT HE WASN'T  THE FRIENDLIEST PERSON HE'D COME ARCOSS AND WALKED AWAY.  MEANWHILE THE PERSON IN QUESTION STARTED ATTACKING VERBALLY ANOTHER MEMBER IN OUR PARTY WITH LANGUAGE THAT WAS NOT SUITABLE FOR ADULTS LET ALONE THE CHILDREN WHO WERE SITTING OUTSIDE WAITING FOR THE NEW YEAR'S EVE FIREWORKS TO START.  THIS PERSON THEN CONFRONTED OUR FRIEND WHO IS OVER SIXTY CHALLENGING HIM TO A FIGHT IN FRONT OF EVERYONE INCLUDING CHILDREN AGAIN.  I INSISTED ON OUR PARTY MEMBER TO IGNORE HIS GESTURES AND WALK ON TO GET AWAY FROM THE SITUATION, TO BE CHANTED OVER AND OVER AGAIN USEING OUR PARTY MENBERS NAME WHICH HE HAD HEARD ME SAY.  IS THIS THE SORT OF PEOPLE YOU WANT RUNNING YOUR BAR/RESTAURANT.  HE WOULD HAVE BEEN QUITE HAPPY TO HURT SOMEONE IN PUBLIC AND I THINK HE IS A DISGRACE TO THE OTHER RESTAURANTS/BARS IN PUERTO CALERO.
THIS MAN NEEDS SACKING AND FAST. IF HE IS THE MANAGER OF THIS ESTABLISHMENT THEN IT DOES'NT SHOW VERY GOOD JUDGMENT ON YOUR BEHALF.
